Beata grew up in Jakarta, Indonesia and has been living in the US since 1985. Having always played with cameras since
she was seven, she decided to choose photography as a career path in 1990.
To combine her love of her crafts and her desire to serve while learning from others, she has volunteered her time
mentoring youth from low-income families through Venice Arts: In Neighborhoods
and is also involved with a group of traditional weavers in Indonesia through Threads of Life Foundation.
Currently based in Los Angeles, she spends part of the year photographing unexplored places of Indonesia.
